Do I was just wondering does anyone use BMI while on a weight loss regime? I personally use it almost all the time and find it quite helpful. I would like to have the opinions of others too in this particular regard. :) Let us discuss.

It depends, most of the time I do not use it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work very well for athletes and bodybuilders. For example, a bodybuilder with 10% body fat would have a high BMI and be considered overweight.

Actually, you are quite right Bob. ^ I do not believe that BMI is the best source for weight loss regime. I think it is generally meant for academic purposes only.

Hmmmmm, may we agree to disagree here? Bob and Martina...? ^^^

I think that it is a very good indicator regarding weight loss and it is not just used to academic purposes. :(

I think hydrostatic body fat testing is the best method of deciphering how over weight someone is. It allows you to get a good look at how much body fat people are carrying around.

No, BMI is never the most comprehensive determination of one's weight loss regime and I can tell you this from my personal experience.
