After a family party last year my mom said, "I got this really cute picture of you and Luke." But when I saw the picture I looked awful! I had fat around my elbows. I couldn't even hold my son on my hip because my gut was so big. I decided I couldn't live like that anymore.

Last February I ordered a month's worth of prepared diet meals. I told myself, if I'm going to spend $300 a month on this food, I'm going to succeed. Now I understand portion control. I also joined some weight loss blogs to get some tips. There is a big change specially on my eating habits and daily activities, , although I am not used to eating the recommended foods on the diet system, I didn’t gave up since I paid for it and I am sure it will work very well. I do some exercise also like Walking, Jumping Jacks, Crunches, Jogging and Dancing, it lift your spirits as well, and give your overall feeling a boost.

To have somebody else who weighed 300+ pounds say, "You're doing great!" meant so much and it motivates me. I still have to reduce 100lbs more. Now during weekends we've also started exercising as a family and play soccer to enjoy my weight loss. Hopefully in the near future, I can put on my bathing suit when we go on spring break!

Welcome to YourOnlineFitness.com Casey, and it's great to hear you are making progress with your goals. It's a great motivator to see such progress.

Sounds like you are cutting calories which will lead to weight loss, but I am not sure if it will lead to long term weight loss as you will have to stay on this diet for the rest of your life in order to keep the weight off for your entire life. Some people may need the extra help of prepared meals, but you can accomplish the same thing by simply watching what you eat, and as you say, controlling your portion size. Another option is to try a low carb diet, which allows you to eat whenever you are hungry, which has been easier for some to maintain for a lifetime. The key here is choosing a diet that you can remain on for a lifetime or you will simply gain back all the weight once you go back to your old eating habits.

Another key to weight loss and fat loss is engaging in some exercise, the higher the intensity the better. Of course you have to make sure your body can handle the higher intensity training, but you can work your way up over time. This will allow you to consume more calories as well, and you won't have to feel hungry all the time like you do on a restricted calorie diet.

Either way, welcome to the site and good luck in your quest for weight loss.
