Hi, i found this site earlier today and have been debating whether or not to join! :)
Anyway, i've taken then leap, and here is a bit about me:

- 19 years old
- 160 lbs
- 5'8"
- Smoker
- Full-time student

I'm a novice to getting fit, and since getting a car, being able to drink, and having more time on my hands, my belly has decided to make an unwanted appearance!
I have recently been changing my diet and now consume 2 - 3 meals a day. Mostly being wholegrain pasta with either chicken, tuna or baked beans.

I begun mild home dumbbell weight lifting (5lbs) around 2 months ago, along with taking the occasional protein shake after lifting, however, i don't really know much about this. I also now own a treadmill but have only had a couple of goes on it. I've had an overhaul, and I would like some feedback on some basic stuff; I'm not very educated of health and fitness stuff.

I have three basic questions:
1] What kind of foods should I be eating to lose weight?
2] What should my intake be of carbs, proteins, fats, etc. to reach a healthy weight?
3] What would be a good workout plan to tone muscles, shed fat, increase testosterone levels, and become more active and fit? I plan on doing a workout about 3 - 4 days a week, but I really don't know what I should be working at.

I;ve also seen Bob talking about HIIT which i no nothing about but would possibly like to start using it asap.

Any other information, tips, websites, etc. would be helpful. Thanks :)

Welcome to the site Rob. Sorry for the late reply, but I am in the process of moving.

1. You should focus on eating proteins, and reduce your intake of simple sugars. Cut out the simple carbs and sugars and focus on eating your whole grain, fruits, vegetables, and protein rich meat.

2. It's hard to give any specifics as each individual is different, so you will have to experiment and see what works for you, but I would suggest eating plenty of proteins and like I mentioned above, cut out the simple carbohydrates, sodas, fruit juices etc. I would also suggest eating five small meals a day in order to prevent insulin spikes.

3. What are you training goals, specifically? Build muscle mass, lose fat, etc?

Again, welcome to the site. :)
