Sure, but before I can really offer any advice, I need more information. How old are you? How long have you been training? Do you have any medical conditions that need to be taken into account? What kind of shape are you in? Have you been exercising for a while?

Thank you for the quick response.

I'm 23 and have been training for a few weeks. I don't have any medical conditions. I weigh 180 pounds.

Okay, it sounds like your just getting started, so I think patience is really a virtue at this point in your training. Can you tell me a little about your current training routine? Are you lifting weights? What does your current training look like? Have you been making any progress? How are you monitoring your progress? I apologize for all the questions, but in order to really offer advice, I need as much info as possible.

You might want to focus on doing a lot of cardio.

Cardio is great if your just getting started, but I would switch over to HIIT training as soon as you are able to. HIIT training is hands down the best method of fat loss when combined with good eating habits.

I lift some weights but mostly do 10 minutes of cardio every day. I have noticed a little bit of change, but nothing much.

Ya, I would suggest patience at this time in your training, it takes time to make progress, especially long term progress. Remember, you are starting a life long commitment to health and fitness, so don't be in a rush to drop the weight. It sounds like you need some structure in your training too, so I would create an actual workout program to follow. I would start with some light weight, 15 or so reps, and add in some cardio for a few weeks more. After a few weeks you can start to incorporate some interval training in place of the standard cardio.

As for weights, I would suggest some light weight full body workouts, three times a week, such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with Cardio on those days as well. Just remember to take it easy since you are just getting started and you will have plenty of time for the high intensity training when you advance. Let me know if you have any other questions, I am here to help.

Welcome to the site Jolii,

I would define weight loss as expending more calories than one consumes. While I agree with the majority of your post, the higher the intensity of the exercise, the more calories which are expended. Some studies have shown that resistance training increases your calorie expenditure for up to 24 hour after the training session has ceased. Walking is great for general health, but if you want fat loss, you are going to have to increase the intensity level and make sure you lower your intake of calories.
