Protein Supplementation Before Heavy Resistance Training May Increase Weight Loss

2 posts in this topic

In a recent study conducted at the Department of Kinesiology, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA, researches found that ingesting protein before engaging in heavy resistance training increased resting energy expenditure up to 48 hours post-training. According to the study "Timing PRO before HRT may be a simple and effective strategy to increase energy expenditure by elevating REE the day after HRT. Increasing REE could facilitate reductions in body fat mass and improve body composition if nutritional intake is stable.". Of course this study is very limited since it only had 8 participants.

Source: Med Sci Sports Exerc. 2010 May;42(5):998-1003.

Timing protein intake increases energy expenditure 24 h after resistance training.

I think its a true study, eating high protein foods before heavy workouts is suitable for getting good fitness results. Bodybuilders tend to use high protein supplement before workouts.
