COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. The annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honors the best players the sport has ever seen. Its a bucket-list event for any baseball fan, especially if a player you rooted for your entire career is one of the inductees. Ive lost count of how many Astros, Expos and Rangers jerseys Ive seen here this weekend, when Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Pudge Rodriguez are being honored with a permanent place in baseballs hallowed Rockies Cool Base Custom White Jersey town. This should be awonderful celebration of the joy baseball can bring to the lives of its fans.Instead, its almost an afterthought, and thats a damn shame. The Induction Ceremony isscheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. ET, and it will bebroadcast live on MLB Network. These things typically last about three hours. You know what else was happening on Sunday afternoon? Not only is the crazy-intense July 31 non-waiver trade deadline one day away, but 10 baseball games were scheduled to start between 1:05 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.Ten. Think about that.On an afternoon when three of the best players in baseball history along with longtime Atlanta executive John Schuerholz and former commi sioner Bud Selig were being honored, baseball went on as if it was any other Sunday.Look, Im a huge fan of the everyday nature of baseball Chris Rusin Jersey s 162-game schedule. Its one of the many things that makes it my favorite of the profe sional sports. Its unrelenting, in a good way.But that schedule shouldn'trelegate celebrations to secondary-event status. This is a pattern, too. Its a problem MLB needs to addre s.The MLB Draft isnt the same animal as the NFL or NBA Drafts. I get that, I do. Itll never be as popular, because college baseball isnt nearly as popular as college football or college hoops, so the names are unknown to the average Nolan Arenado Womens Purple Jersey fan (though the folks at Baseball America do their best to change that reality). And the high school players taken in the first round? Almost complete unknowns to the average fan, unle s that high school stud gets a Sports Illustrated cover (hi Bryce Harper!).But the MLB Draft happens in-season, and its just one event on a night with a full slate of baseball games. SN talked with MLB Network host Greg Amsinger about this, if youre interested for a bit of a deeper dive.Same thing with the annual Futures Game. This annual showcase features the very best of the next wave of MLB stars. Guys like Francisco Lindor, Mike Trout, Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Robinson Cano, Joey Votto and Manny Machado played in that game, and those are just a handful Nolan Arenado Womens Cool Base Jersey of names of future MLB All-Stars.The game is broadcast on MLB Network, too, which is great. But its on the last day before the All-Star break, which means its competing against a full slate of MLB games. It gets lost. The MLB Draft gets lost. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony gets lost.Theres no reason for baseball to bury what should and could be signature events. Players have talked for years about more days off during the season, right? Here are three Gerardo Parra Jersey perfect opportunities.Baseball has a richer history than any other American sport, and its future is incredibly bright, too. And we already have these wonderful events celebrating both the past and the future. They need their own stage. They need their own days. They need baseball's spotlight.
