Alex Vallejo Takes California Deadlift Record at the May 31st 2003  WABDL Meet

This was Alex's' first meet and she came 100% focused. Her first attempt at 225 lbs went easily as did her second attempt at 245 lbs. On her third attempt, she hit the 270 goal with great form. She also attempted a 286 lb, but missed due to exhaustion. She only had 2 minutes of rest between the 3rd and 4th attempt, something that should not have been allowed to happen. Even though she didn't have much rest, she was able to pull the 286 lb up to the top of her knees. I thought she had the lift, but exhaustion had taken hold. I am sure she would have pulled the 286 lb if she was allowed adequate time to recover from her third attempt.

She plans on hitting 305 by worlds and taking the national record, and her trainer Bill Armstrong says that is not far off. Her husband Charles took the following pictures of Alex.
